WandaVision's obscurity is set to change the tone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from its flashy CGI-generated fights and formulaic patterns that set the antagonist up for inevitable defeat, but it looks like fans may have to wait a little longer before they can further explore this six-episode series that toss both Wanda "Scarlet Witch" Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) in a sit-com alternate universe.
The Disney+ series will directly tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will be directed by horror icon Sam Raimi, who will return to the MCU after previous Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson had stepped away from the sequel. Even though it's known that our heroes will cross paths with the Sorcerer Supreme again, it's unknown how they've gotten themselves into their current reality, or if it has any possibility of unlocking more alternate realities.
The Direct reiterates that the WandaVision show will launch on Disney+, however, just a few weeks later than what was expected. It was earlier implied that the show would hit small screens in December 2020, though the hope that Marvel would have the ability to squeeze out a scrap of content for the year was squandered by other delay reports.
Marvel Studios confirmed the delay in a Tweet addressing the announcement, where they included a small teaser that featured select images from the highly-awaited series. WandaVision will stream on Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
