'WandaVision' Declared a Nine-Episode Series

Marvel Studios has experienced their second-ever cinematic drought, where 2020 had been the first year without Marvel content since 2009. In the wake of their dry spell passing them by, Marvel has been more than adamant to replenish their losses. In the spirit of the new year, WandaVision plans to ring in 2021 on a high note.

Not only will this new Marvel series toy with a new way of storytelling, distancing themself from their usual traditional linear progression through plots, and instead takes a more hands-on approach to a sitcom foundation, WandaVision plans to pan out over a nine-episode span.

"Marvel Studios’ WandaVision is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems," Marvel announced in a press statement, summarizing the show's plot.

With WandaVision premiering on January 15 and concluding on the Friday before March 19, when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to release, bumping the length of the first season one episode ahead of top competitors. The new wave of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is spinning an intricate web, as WandaVision will tie into Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There's also the possibility that other Marvel characters could be pulled into the wonkiness of WandaVision, though it's expected that any unconfirmed cameos are left to be a surprise for those who watch the show.
