'Star Wars: The Bad Batch' Renewed for Second Season

Clone Force 99 will return as Disney+ has ordered more Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021-) on the cusp of its first season finale.

After seven seasons of The Clone Wars (2008-2020), The Bad Batch concentrates on nine Clone Troopers that are differentiated by their distinct genetic defects. These defects allow the clones to be particularly skilled in sharpshooting, technology, tracking, strength, and intelligence. Even with a betray early in Season 1, the still Bad Batch band together after taking in Omega (Michelle Ang). The members of this unique clone squad make their way through the galaxy during the aftermath of the Clone War.


"The entire Lucasfilm Animation team and I would like to thank Disney+ and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch," executive producer Dave Filoni said. Filoni has been detrimental to shaping the Star Wars universe since the 2000s, from The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels (2014-2018) to The Mandalorian (2019-), The Book of Boba Fett (2021-), and Star Wars: Ahsoka.


"Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series," Disney+ Senior Vice President of Content Agnes Chu said during the a The Bad Batch Season 2 announcement. "While The Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring [Filoni's] vision to life through the next adventures of The Bad Batch."

The news hit Twitter just before the first part of the two-part season finale prepares to drop on Disney+ tomorrow, August 6. The Bad Batch is to conclude Season on August 13, 2021. Season 2 has not yet picked a day to land on the streaming service but will stream in 2022.
