The Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) trailer dropped a little under four months before director Jon Watt's Homecoming threequel swings onto the big screen. The movie itself is expected to be incredibly eventful and the trailer caused so much excitement that it broke the record of all-time trailer views.
The trailer earned more clicks than the trailer for Avengers: Endgame (2019), which was the previous record-holder. Avengers: Endgame's trailer was watched 289 million times within a 24-hour period, and No Way Home's trailer racked up an impressive total of 335.5 million views after its full day of being released. It was recorded that Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) only met half of what No Way Home delivered.
Additionally, the trailer holds the title of having the most social media engagements across multiplatform services. Within the first 24 hours following its release, No Way Home was mentioned 2.91 million times across social media. 1.96 million of the movie's inclusion in posts were uploaded during the first 12 hours of the trailer's online presence. On an international level, the trailer received another 1.56 million mentions.
Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most popular heroes and can be noted as one of the most recognized icons across pop culture. The web-slinger has seen many iterations of themself through different forms, but Peter Parker has become one of the most beloved characters behind the mask. Actor Tom Holland is one of many that have donned the role of Peter Parker through the ages, and rumors of past Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield joining him for a cross-universe adventure have heightened expectations around No Way Home.
It's expected that the trailer's watch total is to rapidly grow as the release date grows nearer, as the third installation into Holland's solo Spider-Man saga doubles as Marvel Studios' first Christmastime release. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, and Alfred Molina, Spider-Man: No Way Home releases in theaters on December 17, 2021.
