'South Park' Creators Buy Failing Restaurant, Casa Bonita

Updated: Aug 14, 2021

South Park creators and Colorado natives Trey Parker and Matt Stone say they have begun the process of purchasing famed Denver landmark restaurant and entertainment center, Casa Bonita.

The Mexican Restaurant has been featured on the show South Park more than once, but has been closed to diners since March 2020 due to the COVID crisis. Casa Bonita is a favorite destination for all Colorado locals, known for its 30-foot high waterfall, daring cliff divers, exciting stage shows, live musicians, amusement arcade and Black Bart’s Cave.

“As of about an hour ago, pending bankruptcy proceedings that will have to happen in a couple months, we’ve come to an agreement with the owner and we’ve bought it,” says Matt Stone “It’s such a great day. It’s such a wonderful day. WE DID IT!”

Casa Bonita was the location of Cartman's birthday party in a classic episode of South Park, which gave the restaurant worldwide recognition amongst fans of the show.

This all comes on the heels of an almost $1,000,000,000 deal between the creators and CBS/Viacom that will give fans 6 more season of South Park as well as 14 new short films from the franchise.
