'Schmigadoon!' is Another Win for AppleTV+

AppleTV+ boasts some of the best original content out there. With shows like Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Mythic Quest, Finding Jacob, and the all-new Physical. The relatively new streaming service is definitely making its mark in the streaming wars and going head to head with HBOMax and Netflix. And their newest series, Schmigadoon! is another feather in their cap.

The dark comedy, Schmigadoon!, which premiered on AppleTV+ late last week follows a young couple (played by Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong) who get lost in the woods during a couple's retreat only to find themselves in a strange, almost magical, town in which everyone acts as if they're in a musical from the 1940s.

Their strange journey gets even stranger when a leprechaun (played by Martin Short) appears and informs them that they cannot leave the town until they find true love, and not necessarily with each other.

After much infighting and an inevitable breakup, the young couple, in an effort to escape from Schmigadoon!, sets out to find their soul mates in this strange town of singers, dancers, and oddballs.

Schmigadoon! is a homerun and boasts a massive cast of A-list actors and creators including Lorne Michaels, Keegan Michael Key, Martin Short, Fred Armisen, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, and Jane Krakowski.

The show is two parts Alice in Wonderland, one part Pleasantville, and a healthy peppering of Tim Burton's Big Fish.

New episodes of Schmigadoon! air on Fridays on AppleTV+.
