Adding on to the legacy of Ridley Scott's groundbreaking sci-fi horror, Alien, Marvel has confirmed the release of all-new comics that will further plunge into the never-before-seen depths of the Alien universe.
Writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Salvador Laccora will team up to take on ALIEN #1, where new faces will cross paths with old characters in this striking fresh look at a well-renowned series. Marvel's ALIEN series sets out to not only thrill old fans of the franchise but to welcome in newcomers all while plunging deeper into Alien lore.
“Just as a reader and fan, I was as excited as anyone when I heard the franchise was coming to Marvel, and when they asked me to write the launch, I was floored. I've been training my whole life for this gig without knowing it,” Johnson said. “Ever since seeing Ridley Scott’s Alien at a way-too-young age, I’ve been obsessed with the Xenomorph, the single most iconic representation of terror on film."
The new line of ALIEN comics will follow Gabriel Cruz, a Weyland-Yutani mercenary, while he balances the survival of his child, and taking on a new breed of Xenomorph. Marvel initially announced their collaboration in July 2020 and confirms that ALIEN #1 will become available in March 2021.
“I’ve devoured every Alien story I could in every medium available and spent a lot of hours in the back of a classroom sketching out ideas for what happened before, after, and in-between the chapters we got to see. Now I have the opportunity to bring my favorite nightmares to life. And with my insanely talented friends at Marvel and some of the greatest artists in comics telling these stories with me, I can promise you: our nightmares will be yours," Laccora said.
