Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) has already started filming in Australia, and as he borrows characters from other teams for his movie, he borrows the help of another Marvel director.
James Gunn confirmed that he will be assisting Waititi as more Guardians of the Galaxy build up Waititi's roster of characters. Gunn will be a consultant for Waititi as he will be integrating other characters into the fourth Thor movie, which has been predicted by fans since the ending of Avengers: Endgame (2019), where a potential crossover was only bound to happen.
Gunn not only complimented Waititi but he affirmed that he will be overseeing members of the Guardians, as all three Guardians of the Galaxy films are written and directed by him. Gunn reclaimed his primary control over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) after he was removed from the project due to offensive Tweets.
It's not confirmed as to how much screentime will be turned over to the Guardians in Thor: Love and Thunder, as they are assumed to be secondary to the God of Thunder and his supporting cast. The next Thor film is to pick up where Endgame left off, presumptively at the point where Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie was named the new ruler of Asgard.
Thor: Love and Thunder will thunder into theaters on May 6, 2022, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will land an undisclosed date in 2023.
