DC's Justice Society: World War II First Look

DC has triumphantly taken over the animated comics game and with HBO Max's subscriber rates on the rise, animated DC films are now transitioning from traditional DVD formats as the streaming service expands its animated library.

Animated films have heralded more success for DC's particular genre, drawing in a more effective, if not more niche, audience. Critics have acclaimed installations such as The Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, The Dark Knight Returns, and Batman: Under the Red Hood. Animation finds itself as a perfect medium to bring characters to life who may not fit the big-budget live-action scene, allowing Justice Society: World War II as a story crafted for long-time fans and newcomers alike.

It may have been the original comics that took on the pages of DC's comics, the Justice Society of America has not taken its time to shine in decades. In this rendition, the Justice Society of America will be co-led by The Flash and Wonder Woman. A new first-look image for the film has been released through The Hollywood Reporter, which also provides the casting for Justice Society: World War II.

Stana Katic and Matt Bomer will star as Wonder Woman and The Flash. The rest of the featured team will include Omid Abtahi as Hawkman, Elysia Rotaru as Black Canary, Chris Diamantopoulos as Steve Trevor, Liam McIntyre as Aquaman, Armen Taylor as Jay Garrick, Matthew Mercer as Hourman, Ashleigh LaThrop as Iris West, Geoffrey Arend as Charles Halstead/Advisor, Keith Ferguson as Dr. Fate and Darin De Paul as Roosevelt. Justice Society: World War II is planned to release in 2021.
