'Cobra Kai' Season 4 to Start Production in 2021

Netflix's third season of Cobra Kai was rewarded with high praises and outstanding reviews, which means that the streaming service isn't putting a cap on the Karate Kid spinoff series anytime soon.

It was known that Cobra Kai's fourth season was to brace for filming in 2021, though there was no exact date provided for when the show would begin to produce once again. Issue 1226 of ProductionWeekly confirms that Cobra Kai will begin filming on January 21, 2021, and run until April 15, 2021. The cast and crew will return to Atlanta, Georgia, where the previous three seasons were also shot.

Writer Jon Hurwitz had touched on Cobra Kai's return while acknowledging the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on continuing to film, that the current health crisis would not become a plot device in the show, and that upcoming production would operate under strict COVID-19 protocols.

"There are initial plans to film Season 4. Other shows have been filming with strict Covid protocols and everyone is learning from their experiences. Covid shouldn't have an impact on the story we're telling. We just need to find safe ways to tell that story," Hurwitz said via Twitter back in October while responding to a fan's Tweet inquiring about the fourth season.

It should come as no surprise that Netflix is preparing to take another victory lap and release another season of Cobra Kai, as Hurwitz Tweeted out a screenshot of the digital writer's room on October 23, 2020. As for when Cobra Kai will return, Hurwitz said that he "[doesn't] have the answer, but would imagine Season 4 will come out roughly a year after Season 3."
