Classic Villain Returns in New Ghostbusters Trailer

Fans were treated to a new trailer for the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife this morning and it was certainly a more revealing look at the new film.

The trailer was jammed full of fan favorite Easter eggs and cameos, but none more "plot revealing" than the appearance of Gozer, the original antagonist from the first Ghostbusters movie (1984).

You'll recall, the plot of the 1984 film was the return of Gozer the Gozerian and her plot bring about the end of the world (essentially).

In the 1984 film, you'll recall the Ghostbusters team makes reference to the "Gozer Worshipers" that built Dana's apartment building. Well, we see a fully realized underground temple to Gozer (notice the infamous "flattop" on the statue) in this new trailer.

Later in the trailer, we see our villain emerge from the fire pit and we get a full look at her classic flattop and outfit from the original film.

And to round it all out, we see the return of Zuul, the monster "dog" from the first film, chasing down Paul Rudd in a Walmart parking lot. No doubt paving the way for the coming of Gozer.

Will Sigourney Weaver once again be tackling the Zuul character? Most likely, no.

If you haven't seen the trailer, here it is. Let us know your thoughts on the mountain of Easter eggs and cameos.
