The Marvel Cinematic Universe is preparing to rework itself after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), making room for new characters, new shows, new movies, and most importantly, new crossovers.
It's been well known that actor Chris Pratt would return to the role of Peter "Star-Lord" Quill, and a threequel to the Guardians of the Galaxy series confirms that. Not only will the blaster-slinging half-Celestial return, but he'll be in the company of none other than the God of Thunder himself.
Comicbook reported that during a charity live stream for Feed Thy Neighborhood that Pratt, joined by actor Tom Holland, had casually informed those who were watching that he would be headed to Australia in order to film Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Pratt's involvement in the upcoming Thor movie has been highly speculated but has now finally been confirmed.
"Did you just say you're going to be in Thor?" Holland asked in response. "Yeah," Pratt replied. "Am I not supposed to say that?" Holland added, "That's so crazy, I feel like no one knew that."
"No, they knew that. I think they knew that."
It's unclear if Pratt will be the only Guardian of the Galaxy that will be joining director Taika Waititi's ensemble of Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Jaimie Alexander, but Marvel is more than eager to bring in more crossover events. It is also unclear if Tom Hiddleston will make an appearance as Loki Laufeyson in the third Thor film, considering that the Trickster will be at the center of their own series for Disney+ further into 2021. Thor: Love and Thunder is still anticipating its 2022 release, leaving plenty of room for Marvel to keep on writing the new chapter of its cinematic comeback.
