Chris Pine to Star in New Dungeons & Dragons Film

The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news that 'Game Night' directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are set to direct a new fantasy adventure film, Dungeons and Dragons, based on the popular tabletop role-playing game.

Actor Chris Pine, who is gearing up to return to the world of superheroes with Wonder Woman 1984, is in talks with Paramount to star in the long-gestating and big-budget Dungeons & Dragons movie.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley — the duo behind New Line's sleeper hit Game Night— are set to direct the feature and Goldstein and Daley wrote and have turned in the latest version of the script.

While plot details are being kept under wraps D&D is widely known for its wargames, treasure hunts, campaigns, camaraderie, and reversals of fortune, all in a setting that combines humans, elves, orcs, and wizards.

This is not the first time fans have seen the property on the big screen, you’ll remember the role-playing game was previously adapted in 2000 by New Line in the film starring Jeremy Irons. But in recent years, the property has been at the center of a legal battle over its film rights, with a 2015 settlement appearing to have paved the way for Warner Bros. to make a movie.

So until more details come to light, what do you think about the casting of Chris Pine and the new D&D film?
