South Korean actor Park Seo-joon has been cast by Marvel Studios to appear in an upcoming film. A statement from his agency, Awesome ENT, released a publicity statement that confirms that Park has left his home country for filming.
The actor found his start through Korean TV dramas such as What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018) and Itaewon Class in 2020. Park was also cast in the Oscar-winning black comedy Parasite (2019) which took home the Academy Award for Best Picture. He is the third actor of Korean descent to be cast by Marvel Studios, aside from Claudia Kim (Soo-hyun Kim) and Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok).
"Park has confirmed his appearance in a Marvel Studios film and left the country," Awesome ENT said in their press release. They did not mention filming locations, filming schedules, or the title of the movie, saying those would be announced at later date. It's been heavily rumored that Park has landed a role in the Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels, which will star Brie Larson and Iman Vellani.
“We thank the many people who have shown interest and support for Park Seo Joon as he takes on this new challenge,” the agency stated. “We are well aware that many people are curious about the name of the film in which he will be appearing, his character, the filming location, and his filming schedule, but we plan to reveal the details of the movie at a later date.” IMDb lists Park as a member of The Marvels cast on the movie's page but does not mention which character Park has been cast to play.
The Marvels is directed by Nia DaCosta and will premiere on November 11, 2022.
