There are particular pieces of media that allow the artist to become separated from their art, such as the Harry Potter franchise disassociating itself from the shocking - if not intolerable - beliefs and attitudes of novelist J.K. Rowling.
Details are scarce, but it has been reported that a new television show set within the Wizarding World is to be in motion, though the previous statement from Warner Bros. and HBO saying that “There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,” Warner Bros. and HBO Max aims to debunk Variety, though the project has been confirmed to be in its early stages by multiple sources jumping on the story. The Hollywood Reporter also said that it has been reported that "executives have had a series of meetings with writers with a goal of bringing the blockbuster franchise to television."
The studio may be wanting to cover their tracks and keep this Harry Potter show under the radar before any other information can surface. With the Harry Potter domain being severely vast, the eight Harry Potter (2001-2011) movies and the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016-) sagas barely dent the surface of stories untold.
Whether HBO and Warner Bros. are bluffing for the sake of throwing Harry Potter enthusiasts, or "Potterheads," if you will, off of their trail while developing the new series on their own, or if their claims are true and there is no series even in its early conception, fans will have to wait and see if the Wizarding World will come to life on the small screens.
